School Closure Updates
Distance Learning
Nutrition Services
On April 1, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond announced an expectation that distance learning continue through the end of the school year. Orange County Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Al Mijares also made a similar recommendation. This is part of the statewide effort to flatten the curve and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Our district will follow these recommendations and continue with Distance Learning through the 2019/2020 school year and schools will not physically re-open until further notice.
We remain committed to support our students' needs, providing Distance Learning, school counseling services, mental health and wellness supports, grab-and-go meals, Chromebooks and connectivity supports, as well as other services.
Among other things, we also are currently exploring:
-
Options to ensure that high school seniors are on track to graduate
-
Options for end of year activities, including graduations
-
An agreement that the Governor mentioned between the State of California and California universities to waive certain requirements for admissions.
